Home Remedy For Nail Fungus
By Julian Bates
Always found nail fungus to be an embarrassment? Never thought you could cure it on your own? There are easy to follow home remedies for nail fungus. You don't necessarily have to go a doctor.
It has never been found to be dangerous to health but has proven to be bothersome for many people. Its beginning can be as non-conspicuous as a small line on a toe. This could soon spread to other toes and become a bigger problem. Medical treatments tend to be dangerous and expensive.
Here are some easy to follow home remedies for your nail fungus:
Tea tree oil - This is easily available at health food stores. Use a swab and apply some on and under the edge of your nail. Use as little tea tree oil as possible in each application as it is very strong and if it makes contact with your skin, there are chances that your skin will peel off. Be careful not to let it touch your skin in each application. If your goal is to have fungus free nails then this is an ideal treatment.
Lapacha tea - This is yet another home remedy that can be found in any health food store. It's as easy as brewing the tea and soaking the affected nails. If this is done twice a day results are assured.
Coconut oil - this is less time consuming and more easily available than tea tree oil and lapacha tea. Gently rub it into and under the nail twice a day. It's definitely gentler than tea tree oil but heals the infection all the same.
Apple cider vinegar - soak your nails for about fifteen minutes a day in luke warm water and equal amounts of apple cider vinegar. The apple cider vinegar helps to restore the pH balance to the skin. This makes it more resistant to fungal infections. At the end of these 15 minutes make sure to dry your feet completely. Use a hair dryer (on low heat), if necessary. Drying your feet out completely will avoid any moisture to remain between your toes, and keep nail fungus at bay. Moisture is one of the main reasons for the occurrence of nail fungus.
Change your socks regularly- your socks could also invite nail fungus to make a home under your nails. Make sure to change your socks regularly. It is important to air your feet often enough. You could also use an anti bacterial or anti fungal powder on your feet.
There are some other mild substances that can cure nail fungus, like Vicks Vaporub, oil of oregano and olive leaf extract. Using a more oily substance will kill the substance head and seals the area completely.
Just as any home remedy this one also works wonders only with time. Repeat the process with any of these cures till your nail fungus clears up entirely. Nail fungus usually roots itself deep in the nail bed and that's why you must continue with the home remedy you have chosen till the nail grows out and helps the nail fungus to disappear completely.
Remember to change your shoes once you have cured your nail fungus. You don't want any dampness to ignite the flame again.
