Using Yoga Meditation States To Create Your Dream Life

Using Yoga Meditation States To Create Your Dream Life
By David Barrett

There are different yoga meditation states. Each one contributes to incredible peace of mind and mental stability. Let's have a look at three of them now.

Yoga Nidra is the deepest state of meditation. It induces utmost stillness of mind and the highest insight. This yoga mediation state is beyond simple relaxation. However, it's not possible to attain this state with just a few meditation sessions. It requires persistent practice of this technique to achieve the ultimate purpose of it.

The meaning of Yoga Nidra is "Yogic Sleep". When you practice this technique, you are in state of conscious deep sleep. There is a difference between regular meditation and Yoga Nidra. In the former, you are in waking conscious state and can focus on your mind, letting thoughts, images, and sensations to come and go. However, in the latter state, you are NOT in waking state, but pass through the dreaming state and reach DEEP SLEEP, yet your subconscious mind is awake. Yoga Nidra is an absolutely relaxing state of mind and has been used by yogis since ages to purify Samskaras that influence karma.

Sahaja Yoga is one of the meditation states that "silence" your mind. It means your mind is awake, but does not contain unwanted thoughts and anxieties, which are common in everyday life and are a major cause of stress.

This mediation state teaches you to concentrate on the present moment fully and avoid thinking of the past or future. Many of our worries and negative thoughts are a result of past and future thinking. Sahaja Yoga bestows amazing benefits through self-realization, which is also known as Kundalini awakening.

Self-realization can be achieved when the energy situated at your spinal base, which is dormant in everyday life, gets awakened and moves through the various chakras of the body. When this energy reaches the fontanelle bone in your brain, it creates a sensation of a cool breeze gushing out from the top of your head and touching your hands. It gives you ultimate relaxation and a state called thoughtless awareness. Here, your mind is free of all thoughts and is at peace.

Lava Yoga means absorbing your mind in sound. Its purpose is to change the normal level of self-awareness by concentrating on one internal, spiritual sound. As you listen to the sound, gradually your mind will become still. In space, the movement of sound waves produces sound. Similarly, in your body, sound is produced by the flow of currents when you practice pranayama.

For practicing Lava Yoga, you need to sit in Siddhasana and focus on the area between your eyebrows (third eye). Look upwards without moving your head and close your eyes. Close your ears, mouth, and nose too. Calm your mind and try to listen to a sound in your right ear. In due course of time, you will hear a distinct sound. Initially, this sound will be varied and loud, but as you continue to practice, the sound will get subtle.
